Ferenc Csurgai

ARTISTIC STATEMENT

Ferenc Csurgai’s geometric-organic concrete forms, situated in space, are characterized by a fragile balance that emerges on the threshold between stability and displacement. “Csurgai is a master of reduction, absence, and emptiness.” (Ildikó D. Udvari) In contrast to the solidity of concrete, his carbon fiber creations—lightweight in material and plastic in form, seemingly “floating” off the wall’s surface—open up an entirely new dimension in contemporary sculpture, both in terms of materiality and visual expression.
