Ádám Misch | Upward ascent
solo exhibition
'These parallel lines always run upwards from below. This is a certain upward aspiration. I seek the spirituality of objects, as well as in the case of colors.' These are the words of Misch Ádám from a documentary film made in the early 1990s showcasing his art. The quote applies to his earlier works from the mid to late 1970s, characterized by hard-edge and geometric painting that remained playful and soft. Then, after a transitional period, his art flourished in the 1980s, aligning with new painting tendencies where stricter forms disappeared: gesture, a kind of explosive expressionism, and pure painterliness prevailed in his works. Fundamentally abstract compositions often incorporate numbers, words, fragments of words, letters, and symbols, which offer countless possibilities for interpretation and decoding, making his works incredibly interesting. Misch Ádám's oeuvre is extremely rich and diverse, transcending painting and even art itself. / János Wolfart /
