Andrea Katalin Gulyás and Endre Kis | Flora and Fauna

exhibition

The exhibition Flora and Fauna brings together two artists whose distinct life paths and artistic starting points reveal a striking conceptual and visual affinity. The works of Andrea Katalin Gulyás and Endre Kis enter into dialogue at first glance: their visual logic, associative nature, and systems of motifs create a shared field of interpretation that extends beyond their individual artistic positions, giving rise to a new narrative that can be understood as a contemporary mythology.

Andrea Katalin Gulyás’s practice explores the layered nature of the world through an analysis of the structures of reality. By shifting, overturning, and reorganising systems, her works create visual and conceptual spaces that are unstable yet rigorously constructed. Endre Kis’s practice is centred around an inner, instinctive visual universe, in which traces of classical painting traditions emerge in fragmented and reconfigured structures.

The meanings of their works are closely intertwined, revolving around shared questions concerning the relationship between humans and nature, as well as the uncertainty of the layers of reality. Endre Kis’s inner, instinctive visual universe and Andrea Katalin Gulyás’s analytical yet playful systems form an open parallel, drawing the viewer into the unfolding of meaning as a third participant in this triadic dialogue.
