Dániel Kiss & Márton Romvári | Genezis

exhibition

The word Genesis comes from the Greek word génesis, which means birth, origin, creation. The story of creation tells of the cosmos emerging from chaos, the order of the world, and the beginning of human existence, but it is also the archetype of all creative processes.

Márton ROMVÁRI's paintings evoke the first moments of creation. The layered, translucent forms are like the spheres of the world's birth unfolding before us: light emerging from the dark depths of nothingness, the organic, suggestive world of forms dissolving into one another, not objectified, but conveying atmosphere, movement, and flow. The image itself is a metaphor for birth, where form is still in the process of formation.

In contrast, Dániel KISS's sculpture carries the solidified, materialized power of creation. The organic curves of the wood and the forms evoking endless loops speak of the eternal cycle in which the cyclical order of life and time, the constant rebirth, is hinted at. The sculptures are like continuations of Genesis: the world becoming a solid body, where the swirling movement of time and space takes shape.

The works of the two artists together create a mythical space: the fluid, intuitive universe of the painting is complemented by the symbolic forms of the sculpture, enclosed in material. Thus, the exhibition becomes an experience of Genesis—a new story of creation, into which painting and sculpture jointly invite our visitors.
