György Jovián | Jovián Paintings
solo exhibition
Jovián's qualifications encompass painting and graphics. Since 1982, he has been living in Budapest, holding numerous scholarships and receiving distinguished awards. His recognition stemmed from his mixed-media, conceptual works, as well as his serious interest in the relationship between visual arts and performance. In addition, his sensitivity towards human destinies and character differences, fueled by his strong drawing skills, particularly in figurative and portraiture, has accompanied his entire career. He is deeply committed to seriality and multipart artworks. The concept of passing is depicted in his paintings, portraying the allegory of the five senses, simultaneously magical and photographic, or hyperrealistic, symbolic and expressive, both virtuosic mannerist and highly classical.
Jovián's paintings, precisely due to their technical virtuosity and richness of motifs, compel viewers to pause before them, to linger, and then to contemplate what they see. Further associations and their deepening are truly the task of the recipient...
