Judit Horváth Lóczi | Bad Hair Years
opening
The exhibition titled Bad Hair Years, opening on the 27th of November will present the latest works of Judit Horváth Lóczi concerning the theme of motherhood. The exhibition will focus on Horváth Lóczi's thematically linked series of paintings and prints, as well as her site-specific installation created specifically for the occasion.
In her exhibition, Horváth Lóczi speaks with unusual frankness about the difficulties and obligations of motherhood, intending to raise awareness of several taboo issues and thus initiate a kind of discourse, first among mothers and then among wider society. The exhibited images address important issues that are not often talked about, but which are a constant part of our lives: such as the fatigue, adaptation, sensitivity, impatience, and the daily grind of motherhood. The stripped-down, abstract images therefore reveal complex problems, such as the daily frustration and the tedious tasks that come with the birth of a child. Horváth Lóczi condenses deep and massive thoughts into easily digestible, colorful and playful compositions, without overloading the viewer's mind. Her shaped canvases, strong color palette, and use of trompe-l'oeil imagery immediately draw the viewer in by shutting out the worries of the outside world for a moment.
