The art of Tibor Gyenis is featured by thinking of photography as an adjustment, the analogue reorganization and documentation of the sight. In his latest works the transformation of the photography is directly connected to the objectification of the picture: treating the laminated surface as a relief, the artist carves, cuts, etches, tears the material. Not only the surface of the photo-reliefs by Gyenis are damaged, but the moment eternalized on them as well. Therefore the creation of meaning is directly influenced by the medium itself. The fabric of the material shown or revealed questions the established mechanisms of pictures, our very ideas of images. The credibility of photography becomes conditional, while the attitudes of the beholder comes into focus.
